Society always reminds a woman of their ticking biological clocks and the risks that come with having children later in life both in terms of maternal and infant health but there's been less research for the impact of men's age on their children's health. The problem starts for the last four decades as more couples marry later and delay having children until they’ve completed their education and are secured in their careers.

According to a study of more than 40 million deliveries, Babies born to older fathers are more likely to be less healthy at birth and women who have children with older men may have increased health risks, too especially gestational diabetes. Babies with fathers aged 45 or older also had a 14 % higher chance of being admitted to a neonatal intensive care unit and were 14 % more likely to be premature than those who born to younger fathers.

Scientists believe the increased risk of health conditions might be due to random genetic mutations in sperm which can be observed more commonly in older men rather than in younger one. Avoid of alcohol, recreational drugs and no smoking are the keys men can keep their sperm healthy.
