Do You Think Exercise Help You in Losing Weight?

Losing weight is one of the top works for a person. We’ve been conditioned to think of exercise as a key ingredient and perhaps the most important ingredient for any weight loss effort. But in truth, the evidence has been accumulating for years that exercise is great for health, but not actually all that important for weight loss.

Exercise is that when you work out, the extra calories you burn only account for a small part of your total energy expenditure. There are three main components to energy expenditure which are:
  •     Energy utilized for basic functioning when the body is at rest
  •        Energy used to break down food
  •        Energy utilized in physical activity
Weight loss studies in the laboratory aren’t the same as what happens in the real world, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll lose weight with exercise. There are also other factors that can affect how much weight you lose, such as sex, body size, exercise type, and metabolic changes etc.
The amount we eat is associated with the amount we move. When we move more, we at times eat all the more as well, or eat less when we're not working out. There's additionally proof to propose that some people simply back off after a workout, using less energy on their non-gym activities. They may choose to rests for some time, because they're tired, or take the lift rather than the stairs.

Should you focus on diet or exercise or both?
Study focus that people who focused on both in the beginning did a better job of meeting their physical activity and diet goals over the long run.  But people who started with only diet had trouble meeting their physical activity goals later on.

Expected weight loss from exercise:
  •          Resistance training only: 0 to 1 %weight loss
  •         Aerobic exercise only: 0 to 3 % weight loss
  •          Aerobic and resistance training: 0 to 3 % weight loss
  •         Diet combined with aerobic exercise: 5 to 15 %weight loss

So, before choosing diet over exercise, you have to keep in mind that regular physical activity has a lot of other health benefits beyond weight loss including improving mood, boosting energy, and reducing the risk of stroke, type 2 diabetes, depression, and other diseases.
